Over the last few years, I've tried to figure out why I have never really cared too much for this holiday. What's the meaning in it? I know the history behind it, that's not what I'm saying. It's a day to be "thankful" for what you have. Honestly, why should we set aside one day for that. Shouldn't we be thankful every single day of our lives for everything that we have? Some say they are thankful for family and that's all well and good but do you need a day to remind you to be thankful? Some say it's so we can be thankful that we now live in the greatest country in the world where we are free to do pretty much anything we want. Right, I get that. But, what else? Holidays have become so commercialized these days that they don't really mean anything at all anymore. It's so confusing and doesn't really amount to much in my book.

But, in the spirit of things... Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

Vintage Dream Quilt

Above is the start of my Vintage Dream Quilt courtesy of MODA Bake Shop & Amy from Amy's Creative Side.

This will be the back of one of my quilts that I've already started. So, it will be a reversible quilt. I think it should turn out quite lovely.

Baby Quilt #2

I have started making another baby quilt. This one is for my BFF Tonya. She and her fiance are expecting a baby. For now, I have finished the top of the quilt. I have another quilt that has to be completely finished by Christmas so I am working on that one now. Tonya's quilt has a few months before they will need it. But, it's nice to have already started working on it.

Food Creations

I made these for lunch today. I learned how to make them in Home Ec in high school. Below is the recipe.

1 can Pillsbury Buttermilk Biscuits
1 pkg. Hormel Mini Turkey Pepperoni
1 can Pizza sauce (any brand)
1 pkg. Mixed Cheese (any brand)

Roll biscuits into thin circles (the best you can)
Top with pizza sauce, cheese, and pepperoni

Put in the oven under 350°F for 10-15 minutes or until bottom of biscuits are slightly brown.

I've started tutoring my nephew in his language arts at school. This includes his reading, grammar, writing and spelling. My brother and sister-in-law asked me to help him because he's falling behind in school. He's got a learning disability and there's not really much help for him at his school. The No Child Left Behind Act did not help any of the kids with learning disabilites. It is actually hindering their learning and in reality, leaving them behind; the very thing that it was not intended to do. In my opinion, I think they should do away with the No Child Left Behind Act and go back to LD classes for these kids. When I was in school, we had LD classes and the kids got more one-on-one help and did much better in school. It makes me worry about what the public school system will be like when I have children of my own.

Workout. Religio Medici. MCS.

As you can see, I have a new layout. It's sort of "fall-like" since we've now rolled over into November.

Today started day #1 of my workout day for the month of November. My cousin, Sabrina, my boyfriend Chad & I have all started to commit ourselves to working out at least 3 days per week. My goal is to lose 15 lbs and get in better shape. Chad's goal is to lose 20 lbs in prep for the military. Sabrina's goal is to lose weight, of course. So, I will try to blog about our events regularly. [Please forgive me if I don't though.] Tonight, I did a lot of weight lifts and walked on the treadmill for a while. I want to work on my muscles more than anything. We plan on working out tomorrow night as well and I want to try to work on my abs. We'll see how that goes.

It is 13 more days until the Motion City Soundtrack concert in Atlanta, GA. [Look for pictures and a blog about that in the future.]

I'm slowly working on brushing up on my algebra in prep for the ACT I will be taking in February. Math isn't my strong point so I need all the help I can get. I'm using this website to help. If you need math help, this guy rocks!

Also, in my English class, I'm having to read Religio Medici by Sir Thomas Browne. Obviously, Browne rights about things concerning religion; things that I'm not interested in. So, needless to say, I'm having a hard time making it through the short excerpts we are required to read. Religion has never been an interest of mine. Especially when people are promoting it. It bores me to the point of wanting to stick hot needles in my eyeballs. [Yes, I'm that extreme!] So, pray for me as I trudge through this wonderful piece of literature our teacher thinks is so stimulating.
