Welcome Winter

So, it's December 1st. With December, comes winter. I love winter. I'm a fan of the cold weather. I'm a fan of the deathly aspect of winter. Winter has always been my favorite time of year.

As you can see, I've changed my layout to go with the season. I love purple, it's very winter-y. ;)

"Frost" Moon

So, tonight is the full moon for November. Sometimes known as the "frost" moon. In Pagan traditions, the night of each full moon is called an Full Moon Esbat. According to Wikipedia, an actual esbat is defined as a coven meeting. Now, I've found that the word "esbat" is used interchangeably between doing ritual observances for the solitary wiccan such as myself and coven meetings as defined by Wikipedia. But, whatever you wish to refer to it as, in my opinion, is fine. Most pagans know what you mean. It's sort of like if you were born and raised in England and you come over to America, you still speak the same language just a little but different. It has the same roots. (Hope that makes sense!)

Now, I myself, have yet to perform any sort of ritual in observance of an esbat. I was going to tonight but, we have visitors from out of town and I think they'd feel a little weird, smelling incense and hearing me mumble things from across the hall. So, I will postpone that for now. Plus, after working all day, I am kinda not in the mood. Doing a half-ass ritual wouldn't suffice, in my opinion. I don't think the God and Goddess would appreciate it.

I hope you all had a blessed Frost Moon. I'd love to hear about it if you want to tell me.

Until next time...

New book

Yay! My new book came in the mail today! Living Wicca: A Further Guide for the Solitary Practitioner I didn't know when I ordered it that I was going to get a surprise when it came. It's the old cover!

I was pretty excited when I opened it as you might can assume. I wasn't even aware that there was a version of this book with this cover. So, yay! I just wanted to update on that. I'm almost finished with my wand. I have a little more to carve then I can sand it down. I can't wait to upload a picture of that.

Until next time...

Bedtime Ritual

I have been trying to figure out a bedtime ritual for meditation and such. I'm not talking about my nightly ritual like, when I come home from work, I go straight to the shower, then I get online and visit YouTube, Facebook.. etc. After that, I straighten my hair, and watch some tv before I finally turn out the light and go to sleep. What I'm talking about is, an actual ritual/devotion type thing. I have been sitting in front of my altar, with a white candle and some incense lit and just breathe and try to relax. I mean, I guess you could call that a ritual but, I don't know. I just think something is missing. I guess, I'll figure it out. I'm a little lost on that subject right now. Of course, I have a few things in my life that I need to work on. One that's concerning me the most is the loss/lack of something that once was really important to me and now, it isn't as important. It's taken some getting used to but I think I'm finally coming to terms with it. That is the main thing I'm working on right now. I would elaborate but, I don't feel like it's necessary. I will get it all worked out. I'm sure of that. Until next time... Blessed be!

New layout.

Ta-da! I have a new layout. I think it's pretty cool. It's very fall-ish, my favorite time of year other than winter. I'm currently working on a new video for my YouTube channel. Stay tuned for that!

My first ritual & spell.

I am so excited. While I know, I should be doing math homework(gross!), I have just finished writing my very first ritual and spell. My first ritual is for cleansing, consecrating and charging my magical tools. My first spell is for banishing. While I'm not ready to share these yet, I wanted to post about them because I am excited about it. I have to transfer them into my BOS because I just wrote them down on regular paper. You could call it a rough draft. I had to mark out things, add things here and there and, I might not be completely finished with them yet. I'm going to read over them before I am 100% sure I want to put them in my BOS. (I don't like scratch-outs and things in my BOS.)

My question for you guys is... do you remember writing your first spell and/or ritual? Do you still use those to this day? Or, have you adapted new ones but still have the same basic standards as your original? I'd love to hear your stories!

Until next time...

Happy Samhain!

I posted a video on my YouTube channel (StarGr1l13) about my altar. It's not full of trinkets and what-not like I've seen on some but, it's getting there. But, feel free to go watch anyways.

We had a death in our family early this morning. My cousin DeWayne died at the early age of 49(I think). He wasn't very old. It's a sad time in our family because he was such a great person. He lived his life for Jesus Christ and lived it whole-heartedly. I respect him for that and hope that I can live my life for the God and Goddess with as much passion as he had for Christ.

I wasn't able to do my ritual for Samhain. Boo!!! By the time I got home from work, I was so tired and Samhain was almost over anyways. We had so many trick-r-treat kids come in the store, we ran out of candy. I did dress up (kinda) just for the kids. Here's a picture.

I hope everyone had a good Samhain (or Halloween if that's what you prefer). Blessed Be!

Home at last.

I've been home for quite a few hours. I enjoyed my time with Tonya. She was so surprised when I walked in her front door. I can't believe how big her boys are now. It has been so long since I've seen her oldest one. The new baby was born in July so he's only a few months old but even from pictures, I can tell he has gotten bigger. She definitely has her hands full with 2 kids, in diapers, under the age of 3. I love them a lot but boy, leaving was a relief. My nerves just couldn't handle that 24/7. My nerves would be shot. But, I do thank her for the reaffirmation as to why I don't have kids and don't want kids anytime in the near future.

Of course, I wasn't able to make it to the "witchy" shop in Greensboro however, I did go to one inside an indoor flea market in Fayetteville. This one was called Dinah's Dreams. I got quite a few stones but, what I'm most proud of is the clear crystal quartz point that I got. It even stands on its own. So wonderful! Hopefully, I will be visiting another shop that I found near my house(about 30 minutes away). Maybe they will have other goodies that I can get. But, that will be later on. I think I have enough right now. I'm going to try to concentrate on rearranging things to began setting up my altar. Of course, I'll keep posting my progress.

Until next time...

A few weeks ago, the DF, (and for those of you who don't know, that stands for "Darling Fiance" in my blog) bought me a clear quartz crystal pendant necklace which I absolutely love. A few years ago, he purchased me a sterling silver triquetra necklace. Both of which, I can't wear because apparently, whatever is in the actual chain part of the necklace, I am allergic to. Bummer! So, they have both been sitting around for a while until suddenly last night, it hit me. Duh! My aunt makes jewelry! O-M-G! So, I Facebook message her late last night. Then, I talk to her today and she says she can probably whip me up something and make it work. Yesss! So, I go over to her house and she has this leather rope-type stuff and all these awesome little jewelry trinkets and what-not. The next thing I know, TA-DA! I have a new necklace that I can wear. So excited! And, just in time for my trip to NC. I work tomorrow and then bright and early, Thursday morning, we are leaving. Like I said in my previous blog, I may not update again. (Unless something awesome like my necklace just happens to come up!)

So, until next time...

New Book

So, my new book that the DF bought me came in the mail today. Totally unexpected! But, I'm so excited to get to read it. It came just in time for my long, long car ride to NC. Anyways, the DF bought me Scott Cunningham's Wicca: A Guide for the Solitary Practitioner. This book has been reccommended by a lot of people, so I thought it only fitting that it be one of the next books I read. I'll do a review on it when I'm finished reading it.

Thursday, I head to NC. So, I may not post anything for quite a few days. That will give me time to read the book anyways. :) Hope y'all have a great rest of the week!

Until next time...

Rain water

So, it's been sprinkling off and on here today. A couple of days ago, I put out a jar to catch some rain water the next time we had a shower. I want to use it to make some holy water and/or whatever else I might need it for. I am sure I will need it for something and since rain water is more natural than purified spring water out of the bottle, I think it's a better option for such things.

The DF ordered me a new book. I can't wait to get that in. I hope it gets here before the trip to NC. I sure would like something to read on the drive there and back. Speaking of which, I have to start packing and making sure I have everything together that I want to take.

I can't wait! Yay!

8 long days... & a God painting

Today begins my 8 day stretch at work before my trip to N.C. with my mom and maw-maw. I'm going to visit my BFF Tonya and her new baby son, Benjamin. I leave Oct. 27the. I can't wait to see her. We live so far apart. We have been friends since kindergarten so... over 20 years. It should be a fun trip. Plus, there's a witchy store about 30 minutes from her house so I'm hoping I can get her to take me there.

Yesterday, while the DF & I were shopping, I went by Hobby Lobby and got a revelation. I needed something on my altar to represent the God. So, I decided to paint a picture on a small 3"x5" canvas with Cernnunos on it. I have my Goddess statue and soon I'll have my God painting. Right now, I only have him drawn on it. I have to wait until I get back from N.C. to paint him when I have time off work. I will post a picture when I'm finished. This might be the last post I do until after I get back. I'm not sure though.

My Goddess Statue & hopefully an altar table

I have been wanting a goddess statue for my future alter. Of course, anything such as that is a bit on the pricey side if you buy from a metaphysical shop or anywhere online. So, I decided to make my own. I used Crayola self-drying(No Bake) clay that I purchased at Wal-Mart. My DF and I finished the statue tonight. Right now, it is currently drying and the clay itself says 2-3 days drying and hardening time depending on the thickness of whatever you make. After it is completely dried and hard, and I can move it without it trying to fall apart on me, I am going to paint it. I'm not 100% sure how I'm going to paint it yet but I will definitely post a picture once it's complete.

Here's what I have so far.

My grandparents frequently visit local auctions and today while I was visiting (they just live across the street from me), I noticed that they had a small table they picked up last week that would be PERFECT for an altar. And, seeing as how I'm in the market for one, I'm trying to find the right time to ask my grand-dad if I can have it. (You have to catch him in just the right mood.) Otherwise, I'm going to have to reimburse him the money he paid for it. Which, I think I'd be perfectly fine with because my grandmother said he only paid 2 or 3 dollars for it. But, if I can get it for free, even better. I just have to catch him in a good mood. And, today, was not that day. LOL I will post more on that later.

)O( - PRiLA

Year & A Day

I have been researching more of the Year & A Day aspect of Wicca/Paganism. My current understanding is that Year & A Day is the amount of time you pledge to live and learn the craft or path and at the end of that year and a day, you must decide if you want to continue on with the craft or if you want to move on to other religious aspects. I don't think I'm quite ready to 100%-ly pursue the year and a day concept but, the more I read about it and the more I hear about it from users on YouTube, the more interesting it sounds.

I have actually found a metaphysical shop local (within an hour drive) here. It surprised me. The other one we had closed its doors earlier this year. I'm excited to pay a visit to our local shop. Also, I'm planning a trip to NC in less than 2 weeks to visit my best friend, Tonya, for her birthday. She has NO IDEA that I'm coming. It's a compleate and total surprise. And, whilst I'm out there, I'm going to try to visit the local metaphysical shop they have near her house if we can. That should be fun. I will try to remember to blog about my trip, of course.

"Do you know what that symbol means?"

Argh! The nerve of some people. Ok, ok.. before I go ranting, I should probably tell you what I'm raving about, right? Here's the scoop:

So, I work for Mapco. (They own and run convenience stores.) So, yes.. I work with the public. Well, I am 2nd shift and of course, that's when the majority of the stupid people come in. This young guy comes in (he had already been in about 3 times) and this time, he here's house the conversation goes:

Customer: "Do you drive that little blue car out there?"
Me: "Yeah."
Customer: "Do you know what that symbol on the back of it means?"
Me: "Yeah, why?"
Customer: "Just checking."

And, he walks out. I didn't have time to say anything else. The nerve! Of course I know what the symbol on the back of my car means. Otherwise, I wouldn't put it there!

For those of you who are wondering what symbol I'm talking about, here is the picture.

It's a triquetra. But, I'm sure a lot of the people around here don't know that. I live in the bible belt. They probably think I worship some evil being or something. That's just how things go around here.

I think, the next time he comes in (and he comes in the store a lot) I will ask him what he meant by his question. Let's see if HE knows what that symbol means. LOL.

Logo pumpkin for work

So, my manager wanted to carve a pumpkin with our company logo on it. Somehow, I got roped into this. But, it sounded fun at the time. And, it actually was fun. I got the darling hunny to help me, of course. He's more artistically inclined than I am.

And, here is our end result.

Of course, it wouldn't be polite to show you that picture without showing you what it looks like when it's lit up. So, here ya go:

I had fun doing this; the hunny, not so much. I think he found it tedious and frustrating. But, he's a party pooper sometimes. But, he did say he wanted to carve one for himself. I can't wait to do more Halloween-y, fall-ish type things.

My favorite time of year...

Fall! I absolutely love this time of year. As far back as I can remember, I always seem to be in a better mood during this time of year. I'm a cool weather fanatic. I don't like the humid, steamy weather we have here in Alabama during the summer months. I'm happiest when it's cool and windy outside. I even enjoy the winter weather. Yes, that's right.. I love winter. I'm not a fan of sweating and just feeling all icky if you step outside in the sun for longer than 5 minutes. Although, I can tough it out if I have to. You see, I grew up in the fields with my grandparents as a kid so I'm no stranger to the blazing rays of sun. I spent last year in the watermelon fields with my dad loading watermelons onto a truck. I can do the severly hot weather thing BUT, I prefer not to and I try to avoid it as much as I can. I don't let it keep me from doing things but, I try to plan things to do during the summer that require not being out in the sun a lot. The blazing hot sun just drains your energy; or at least it does for me. I have more energy during the fall/winter season. Did I mention that I love it? LOL.

Athame or Wand?

I've been going back and forth between whether I want to purchase an Athame or make a wand to add to my supplies. I'm thinking of gathering a large limb off of my grandmother's large old oak tree and just making my own wand. I think doing this off of such an old tree will aid in the energy of the wand. Some people prefer to purchase a wand but I feel as though it would be more spiritual and powerful to make a wand. I'm not very good at wood crafting or "whittling" as it's known where I'm from but, I think if I take my time, I can make a perfect wand, for me. I'll definitely update on my progress. I'm not sure when I will be starting on this.

Alley's Reception

Today was Alley's wedding reception. It was a very pretty reception. I took a lot of pictures for her. There was a ton of food. Except for a slight problem in finding shoes to wear today, and the ones that I finally found gave me a blister on my heel, today was a very good day. I truly hope the best for Alley & Felix. Congratulations!

Autumn Equinox

I've been reading more into Wicca and Paganism here lately. It seems to be a path on which I must go down. Whether I stay there or not, is still a mystery.

But, today.. September 23, 2011 is the Autumn Equinox otherwise known as Mabon. For those of you who don't know anything about it. The Autum Equinox is when day and night are equal. Often celebrated by a gathering of fruits, vegetables and herbs as well as with rituals paying respects to the God and Goddess. Personally, I'm only lighting a couple of candles throughout the day as I do have to go to work in just a little while. Then I'll light some incense and complete my celebration after I get home from work.

As of right now, I'm studying this religious path and for now, it feels right. But, as with all things, it could change. I'm just still trying to find my purpose.

I think I'm boring..

Right? I've noticed that I never have anything to say on this blog. I've tried to come up with plenty of reasons to make this blog interesting. Crafts, weight loss.. etc. Nothing has seemed to work. But, in the spirit of my last blog, I have lost down to 133 lbs. I'm still going as strong as my will will let me. One day, I will be successful. One day.

Lvl 1, D4 of JM30DS

I'm now on Day #4 of Level 1 of the Jillian Michaels' 30 Day Shred DVD. I've incorporated that into my weight loss journey. I'm hoping to stick it out for the full 30 days. I've started it a couple of times before and always seemed to give up. I'm going to try my best not to this time. There isn't much for me to report as far as my weight loss goes. I took my measurements today and right now my hips are 38 in. and my waist is 31 in. I currently weigh 137 lbs. I'm just doing what I can to stick to a sensible diet and exercise program. Here's to hoping...

Back to the journey..

I've started and stopped my journey to a skinnier me so many times over the past few months. It's been hard but I jumped back on the wagon last night and, this morning, I've eaten a little better. I didn't go over 400 calories for breakfast which I'm proud of. Today is my first day off from BOTH of my jobs in 10 days... I think. I'm enjoying it but I have to get up and get going soon. I have several things to do today. I just wanted to make a quick note that I have restarted(again)my weight loss journey. Wish me luck!

1st job, 2nd job... yes please.

Next week may mark the first week in my journey into having 2 jobs instead of just 1. Some might say I'm crazy, some might understand. I, for one, justify it by saying this:

I have a future to plan for. I have bills that need to be paid off. I have a wedding to save for. I have a down payment on a house to save for. I MUST do what I have to in order to make these things happen and if working 2 jobs will further advance that, then so be it. Thank you.

So, if things go right with job #1 (they have to be willing), I will demote myself as Shift Mgr. down to Crew/Cashier and pick up with being a full-time convienence store clerk with the company I worked for when I was in high school. I think I will be happier working there full-time verses working fast food full-time.

Well, those are my plans. We'll see how that works out here soon.

Sunday, July 3, 2011

I haven't updated in forever. Although, there isn't much for me to tell. I got a job working at Zaxby's. It's not what I wanted but my unemployment was running out and I had to do something to pay my bills. So, for now, it will do. I've been there going on 4 months but soon, I will be starting another new job at Mapco. I'm hoping the manager at Zaxby's lets me drop down to just a couple days a week. (Maybe my off days with Mapco? Who knows.) I really need the extra cash for bills and in the near future, wedding and house expenses.

So for those of you that were following my weight loss journey. I'm sad to report that it's at a standstill at the moment due to stress from work, and just lack of time. I know, I know... those are no good excuses but, it's the truth. Maybe one day I will get back into the swing of things. I'm hoping to start updating on here a little more than I usually do.

Until next time...

+1 lb. down -- Giving up the scale.

In a challenge on MFP, I will be trying to give up the scale from March 9th to April 24th. Religious people call this Lent but, I think it's a good idea. When you're on a diet and exercising toward a goal, the scale can seem like a little evil monster that brings you down. I'm tired of being addicted to the scale and getting up and it not moving. So, hopefully I can stick to this no scale thing. Who knows, maybe I'll see more weight loss without a scale.

OMG! 5 lbs down!

Can it be true? Can it!? According to my scales, this morning, (just after getting up mind you) I've lost 5 lbs. I'm now down to 135. I haven't seen 135 in a while. I'm so excited. It's been 18 days since I started my weight loss journey. In 18 days, I've lost 5 lbs. I absolutely can't wait for another 18 days and 5 lb. weight loss. I will treat myself to something nice once I reach my first goal of 10 lbs lost. Oh! Below is my counter, I'm going to start posting it with every post.

Giving up.

So, I gave up on the challenge. I hurt my knee trying to jog the other day. I will just strive to finish walking a mile in less and less time and maybe, just maybe.. one day... I will work up to jogging. I think I would need a knee brace in order to really jog. But, on the plus side, I have been working out every single day for almost 3 weeks now. That, my friends, is an accomplishment all on its own.

My weight is down to 137 which is great. I'm still going to keep going though. I want to be back to 120 at the most. But, my goal is 115. I will make it! I will, I will, I will!

Day #3 of Couch to 10K Challenge

I managed to get out and walk/jog 1.5 miles today. Not all together, I did 1 mile this morning around 11AM and the 0.5 mile this afternoon around 5PM. I'm slowly working up to being able to jog more and more. I was able to finish an eighth of a mile today all at once. 2 days ago, I could barely jog a quarter of a mile. I'm slowly building my way up in hopes of being able to complete a mile. No time frame on it of course but to completely 100% jog a full mile without stopping.

Oh! And, my scale says I'm down to 138. 2 lbs gone!! Hopefully, I'll be down 5 lbs by the end of next week.

Day #1 of Couch to 10K

Today was day #1 of my attempt at the afore mentioned Couch to 10K challenge I guess you'd call it. I managed to finish 20 minutes of the first 34 minute session. 17 of that was devoted to walking and the other 3 minutes were jogging. I did them in intervals as the program states but I just couldn't reach the 34 minute limit. One reason, it was below 40oF and the wind was blowing which made the wind chill horrible. I don't have a treadmill so I have to use our local parks/walking trails. But, I'm attempting so I am giving myself credit for that. I also posted a progress blog on to help me in my weight loss goal. I posted before pictures to begin with. Hopefully, next month, I can post a couple of pictures that will show some progress.

Below are the pictures that I posted:

I'm currently at 140 lbs. My goal is 115 lbs.

Here's to hoping!!!

Couch to 10K

I've decided to try a new workout since the weather around here has slowly been improving. It's called Couch to 10K. Now, while my goal isn't to be able to run 10K by no means, I would still like to try this workout. It seems like it would help to be able to work up to running/jogging more and more. I've joined and so far, I've lost 1 lb but I have just been cutting back calories and doing some light workouts such as walking. I have a counter at the bottom of my blog from that helps track how much weight I've lost. But, I think this new workout will help me get in better shape for the summer.

Here's to hoping!

Wal-Mart sells WHAT?!?

Wal-Mart sells funeral caskets on their website. I totally did not know that until today. I guess Wal-mart really does sell EVERYTHING. By the way, you can click the link to the Wal-Mart website if you don't believe me. It will take you straight to a casket. Needless to say, I'm shocked but at the same time, I'm not shocked.

Movie #4

My 4th movie choice was The Bounty Hunter starring Jennifer Aniston & Gerard Butler.

Yet again, another comedy/love story. I don't know what it is here lately but on Netflix, that seems to be what's been released. This movie was funnier than the last two and the love story line was much better. The ending, was by far my favorite part. It's an enjoyable movie for a "night in" with the significant other.

I give this movie ★★★.

Movie #3 & job possibility

My third movie choice was New In Town.

Yet again, another comedy. More of a romantic comedy. I must say this one is a bit funnier than the last comedy I watched however, it could also use more humor. I enjoyed this movie anyways though.

I give this movie ★★.

Today, I attemped to speak with my old manager at Wal-Mart about going back to work as a cashier there. Our conversation was good and the outcome might be positive. I am trying not to get my hopes up just in case. But, I think there is a good chance I will get my job back there.

Movies #1 & #2

The first movie I decided to watch and review was Did You Hear About The Morgans?

This movie is classified as a comedy however, it's not much of a comedy. It has dry humor. But, if you are into that sort of thing then, this movie is for you.

I give this movie ★★.

The second movie I decided to watch and review was Precious.

I believe this movie is classified as Drama and, it is definitely a dramatic movie. If you've seen it, you understand what I mean. If you haven't seen it, I would recommend it. It opens your eyes to a whole different world.

I give this movie ★★★.

So, here lately, I've been feeling a little overwhelmed with life. Bills, school, being unemployed.. etc. My outlook is a little grim at the moment. I see no light at the end of the tunnel. I'm viewing my glass as half empty. *sigh* See what I mean? But, I know there has to be something better around the corner. That's the sad part. It's as if I'm stuck in the middle of knowing there's something better and feeling as if there isn't and never will be.

I only have 2 more semesters of school and then I transfer. After transfer, I have a little over a year to finish that. Then, hopefully, if I pass, I can find a job.

Something has got to give soon though or I think I might go crazy.

2010 Monthly Highlights

We welcomed in a New Year!

I went to my first Motion City Soundtrack Concert in Atlanta, GA.

I went to NC to visit my BFF and her baby Nicholas. It was my first time seeing him.

Nothing interesting, exciting or important happened in April. Wow.

I lost my job and joined the mass of other unemployed people.

June & July
I spent the majority of these 2 months in the watermelon fields working.

Chad and I took our vacation to Myrtle Beach, SC.

I decided I wanted to change my college direction and become an ultrasound technician.

Nothing interesting, exciting or important happened in April. Wow.

We went to see Motion City Soundtrack again and I started on my 2nd baby quilt.

Chad proposed! And I said yes!

I had 3 months of the year that I can't remember anything worth pointing out. I guess those were my down times. LOL Let's hope for a more exciting and happy 2011.
