Happy Samhain!

I posted a video on my YouTube channel (StarGr1l13) about my altar. It's not full of trinkets and what-not like I've seen on some but, it's getting there. But, feel free to go watch anyways.

We had a death in our family early this morning. My cousin DeWayne died at the early age of 49(I think). He wasn't very old. It's a sad time in our family because he was such a great person. He lived his life for Jesus Christ and lived it whole-heartedly. I respect him for that and hope that I can live my life for the God and Goddess with as much passion as he had for Christ.

I wasn't able to do my ritual for Samhain. Boo!!! By the time I got home from work, I was so tired and Samhain was almost over anyways. We had so many trick-r-treat kids come in the store, we ran out of candy. I did dress up (kinda) just for the kids. Here's a picture.

I hope everyone had a good Samhain (or Halloween if that's what you prefer). Blessed Be!

Home at last.

I've been home for quite a few hours. I enjoyed my time with Tonya. She was so surprised when I walked in her front door. I can't believe how big her boys are now. It has been so long since I've seen her oldest one. The new baby was born in July so he's only a few months old but even from pictures, I can tell he has gotten bigger. She definitely has her hands full with 2 kids, in diapers, under the age of 3. I love them a lot but boy, leaving was a relief. My nerves just couldn't handle that 24/7. My nerves would be shot. But, I do thank her for the reaffirmation as to why I don't have kids and don't want kids anytime in the near future.

Of course, I wasn't able to make it to the "witchy" shop in Greensboro however, I did go to one inside an indoor flea market in Fayetteville. This one was called Dinah's Dreams. I got quite a few stones but, what I'm most proud of is the clear crystal quartz point that I got. It even stands on its own. So wonderful! Hopefully, I will be visiting another shop that I found near my house(about 30 minutes away). Maybe they will have other goodies that I can get. But, that will be later on. I think I have enough right now. I'm going to try to concentrate on rearranging things to began setting up my altar. Of course, I'll keep posting my progress.

Until next time...

A few weeks ago, the DF, (and for those of you who don't know, that stands for "Darling Fiance" in my blog) bought me a clear quartz crystal pendant necklace which I absolutely love. A few years ago, he purchased me a sterling silver triquetra necklace. Both of which, I can't wear because apparently, whatever is in the actual chain part of the necklace, I am allergic to. Bummer! So, they have both been sitting around for a while until suddenly last night, it hit me. Duh! My aunt makes jewelry! O-M-G! So, I Facebook message her late last night. Then, I talk to her today and she says she can probably whip me up something and make it work. Yesss! So, I go over to her house and she has this leather rope-type stuff and all these awesome little jewelry trinkets and what-not. The next thing I know, TA-DA! I have a new necklace that I can wear. So excited! And, just in time for my trip to NC. I work tomorrow and then bright and early, Thursday morning, we are leaving. Like I said in my previous blog, I may not update again. (Unless something awesome like my necklace just happens to come up!)

So, until next time...

New Book

So, my new book that the DF bought me came in the mail today. Totally unexpected! But, I'm so excited to get to read it. It came just in time for my long, long car ride to NC. Anyways, the DF bought me Scott Cunningham's Wicca: A Guide for the Solitary Practitioner. This book has been reccommended by a lot of people, so I thought it only fitting that it be one of the next books I read. I'll do a review on it when I'm finished reading it.

Thursday, I head to NC. So, I may not post anything for quite a few days. That will give me time to read the book anyways. :) Hope y'all have a great rest of the week!

Until next time...

Rain water

So, it's been sprinkling off and on here today. A couple of days ago, I put out a jar to catch some rain water the next time we had a shower. I want to use it to make some holy water and/or whatever else I might need it for. I am sure I will need it for something and since rain water is more natural than purified spring water out of the bottle, I think it's a better option for such things.

The DF ordered me a new book. I can't wait to get that in. I hope it gets here before the trip to NC. I sure would like something to read on the drive there and back. Speaking of which, I have to start packing and making sure I have everything together that I want to take.

I can't wait! Yay!

8 long days... & a God painting

Today begins my 8 day stretch at work before my trip to N.C. with my mom and maw-maw. I'm going to visit my BFF Tonya and her new baby son, Benjamin. I leave Oct. 27the. I can't wait to see her. We live so far apart. We have been friends since kindergarten so... over 20 years. It should be a fun trip. Plus, there's a witchy store about 30 minutes from her house so I'm hoping I can get her to take me there.

Yesterday, while the DF & I were shopping, I went by Hobby Lobby and got a revelation. I needed something on my altar to represent the God. So, I decided to paint a picture on a small 3"x5" canvas with Cernnunos on it. I have my Goddess statue and soon I'll have my God painting. Right now, I only have him drawn on it. I have to wait until I get back from N.C. to paint him when I have time off work. I will post a picture when I'm finished. This might be the last post I do until after I get back. I'm not sure though.

My Goddess Statue & hopefully an altar table

I have been wanting a goddess statue for my future alter. Of course, anything such as that is a bit on the pricey side if you buy from a metaphysical shop or anywhere online. So, I decided to make my own. I used Crayola self-drying(No Bake) clay that I purchased at Wal-Mart. My DF and I finished the statue tonight. Right now, it is currently drying and the clay itself says 2-3 days drying and hardening time depending on the thickness of whatever you make. After it is completely dried and hard, and I can move it without it trying to fall apart on me, I am going to paint it. I'm not 100% sure how I'm going to paint it yet but I will definitely post a picture once it's complete.

Here's what I have so far.

My grandparents frequently visit local auctions and today while I was visiting (they just live across the street from me), I noticed that they had a small table they picked up last week that would be PERFECT for an altar. And, seeing as how I'm in the market for one, I'm trying to find the right time to ask my grand-dad if I can have it. (You have to catch him in just the right mood.) Otherwise, I'm going to have to reimburse him the money he paid for it. Which, I think I'd be perfectly fine with because my grandmother said he only paid 2 or 3 dollars for it. But, if I can get it for free, even better. I just have to catch him in a good mood. And, today, was not that day. LOL I will post more on that later.

Year & A Day

I have been researching more of the Year & A Day aspect of Wicca/Paganism. My current understanding is that Year & A Day is the amount of time you pledge to live and learn the craft or path and at the end of that year and a day, you must decide if you want to continue on with the craft or if you want to move on to other religious aspects. I don't think I'm quite ready to 100%-ly pursue the year and a day concept but, the more I read about it and the more I hear about it from users on YouTube, the more interesting it sounds.

I have actually found a metaphysical shop local (within an hour drive) here. It surprised me. The other one we had closed its doors earlier this year. I'm excited to pay a visit to our local shop. Also, I'm planning a trip to NC in less than 2 weeks to visit my best friend, Tonya, for her birthday. She has NO IDEA that I'm coming. It's a compleate and total surprise. And, whilst I'm out there, I'm going to try to visit the local metaphysical shop they have near her house if we can. That should be fun. I will try to remember to blog about my trip, of course.

"Do you know what that symbol means?"

Argh! The nerve of some people. Ok, ok.. before I go ranting, I should probably tell you what I'm raving about, right? Here's the scoop:

So, I work for Mapco. (They own and run convenience stores.) So, yes.. I work with the public. Well, I am 2nd shift and of course, that's when the majority of the stupid people come in. This young guy comes in (he had already been in about 3 times) and this time, he here's house the conversation goes:

Customer: "Do you drive that little blue car out there?"
Me: "Yeah."
Customer: "Do you know what that symbol on the back of it means?"
Me: "Yeah, why?"
Customer: "Just checking."

And, he walks out. I didn't have time to say anything else. The nerve! Of course I know what the symbol on the back of my car means. Otherwise, I wouldn't put it there!

For those of you who are wondering what symbol I'm talking about, here is the picture.

It's a triquetra. But, I'm sure a lot of the people around here don't know that. I live in the bible belt. They probably think I worship some evil being or something. That's just how things go around here.

I think, the next time he comes in (and he comes in the store a lot) I will ask him what he meant by his question. Let's see if HE knows what that symbol means. LOL.

Logo pumpkin for work

So, my manager wanted to carve a pumpkin with our company logo on it. Somehow, I got roped into this. But, it sounded fun at the time. And, it actually was fun. I got the darling hunny to help me, of course. He's more artistically inclined than I am.

And, here is our end result.

Of course, it wouldn't be polite to show you that picture without showing you what it looks like when it's lit up. So, here ya go:

I had fun doing this; the hunny, not so much. I think he found it tedious and frustrating. But, he's a party pooper sometimes. But, he did say he wanted to carve one for himself. I can't wait to do more Halloween-y, fall-ish type things.

My favorite time of year...

Fall! I absolutely love this time of year. As far back as I can remember, I always seem to be in a better mood during this time of year. I'm a cool weather fanatic. I don't like the humid, steamy weather we have here in Alabama during the summer months. I'm happiest when it's cool and windy outside. I even enjoy the winter weather. Yes, that's right.. I love winter. I'm not a fan of sweating and just feeling all icky if you step outside in the sun for longer than 5 minutes. Although, I can tough it out if I have to. You see, I grew up in the fields with my grandparents as a kid so I'm no stranger to the blazing rays of sun. I spent last year in the watermelon fields with my dad loading watermelons onto a truck. I can do the severly hot weather thing BUT, I prefer not to and I try to avoid it as much as I can. I don't let it keep me from doing things but, I try to plan things to do during the summer that require not being out in the sun a lot. The blazing hot sun just drains your energy; or at least it does for me. I have more energy during the fall/winter season. Did I mention that I love it? LOL.
